On next 27th and 28th of May, GREENSMARTMED partners will take part in the “2nd Innovation Camp” of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme
Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission in Barcelona on “Smart specialisation strategies supporting Mediterranean green and just transition”.
As shared by the ISE Mission, since their first introduction in the 2014-2020 programming period, Smart Specialization strategies “are demonstrating to be a powerful tool to plan strategically research and innovation policy efforts across the European regions and countries… They can be the framework for place-based innovation policy for sustainability oriented to the delivery of the European Green Deal without harming the economic, social and territorial cohesion.”
The new programming period has furthers spread the concept of smart specialisation strategies for sustainable and inclusive growth (S4+) across EU, “underling the shift of the focus on transformative changes, moving beyond the simple competitiveness logic and encompassing broader regional and societal challenges“.
As parte of the Mediterranean community of S3 practitioners, GREENSMARTMED referents will gather with the Interreg community during the 2nd MED Innovation Camp, organised by the Dialogue4Innovation Project in collaboration with the Joint Research Centre, for a 2-days workshop discussion and exchanges to find common ground to work together to address sustainability challenges and SDGs.
The working sessions will be a space to provide tools and capacity building to S3 policy makers (national, regional and local) and promote synergies in the MED community. Partners will be invited to participate in the Innovation Camp together with S3 policy makers from their regions.
Since the event is targeted to governance and thematic projects partners from the ISE Mission and other Missions, S3 policy makers and practitioners from the Mediterranean region, Mediterranean governance institutions and programmes, it will represent a fruitful occasion for GREENSMARTMED partners to start spread the word about the project goals among a relevant and wide group of stakeholders.
