The Green Innovation in the Agrifood sector – GREENSMARTMED Transnational Event in Greece



Within the framework of the Interreg Euro-MED GREENSMARTMED project, a transnational cooperation event will be held in Thessaloniki on May 28th, co-organized by the Greek project partners, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia (RDF). The event will take place at CERTH premises in “Michael G. Strintzis” Amphitheatre.

The event, that will be realized after the 3rd internal project meeting, will delve into the strategies and opportunities identified by the GREENSMARTMED project to spark a green revolution across the agrifood sector, as one of the five manufacturing sectors targeted by the project (textile, agrifood, mobility & batteries, machinery and platistics). The focus will be on cultivating innovation and leveraging regional strategies to achieve this transformation, based on the ongoing progresses that the project is achieving in the current phase of testing of the GREENSMARTMED methodology and toolkit in the different involved regions.

During the event, participants will have the opportunity to attend panel discussions and living lab sessions in different thematic areas related to the agrifood sector, with the engagement of outstanding speakers and organizations. Stakeholders from the regions participating in the project will also have active involvement in the event, sharing their experience and valuable knowledge. Moreover, the event will also feature the BBioNets project Info day, an initiative undertaken in collaboration with the esteemed American Farm School of Thessaloniki, thereby fostering synergies between the event's thematic discussions and the GREENSMARTMED and BBioNets projects, in line with the GREENSMARTMED's goals in the framework of the Results Amplification Strategy (RAS).

This upcoming transnational cooperation event in Thessaloniki promises to be a pivotal moment for the GREENSMARTMED project. By bringing together insightful discussions, living lab experiences, and the valuable perspectives of regional stakeholders, it will offer an unique platform to cultivate the innovation and regional strategies necessary to truly ignite a green revolution within the Mediterranean agrifood sector, as part of the project' one to make the manufacturing sector even more green and sustainable.
