At GREENSMARTMED, we believe that every action counts when it comes to building a smarter, greener Mediterranean. One of our core commitments is to reduce the carbon footprint of all project activities, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s a shared responsibility across the entire Interreg Euro-MED community.
In line with the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, all projects are asked to evaluate and monitor their environmental impact, integrating sustainability principles into every phase of implementation — from travel and event organisation to communication and resource use. GREENSMARTMED embraces this approach as an opportunity to turn daily project management into a living example of environmental responsibility.

We’re proud to officially launch our Carbon Fighters Campaign, a collective effort to showcase best practices, creative solutions, and everyday choices that make a real difference in reducing CO₂ emissions across the Mediterranean.
Our Carbon Fighters, members of the GREENSMARTMED partnership, will lead by example, sharing how they put sustainability into practice in their daily work and project activities. Through their stories, we aim to inspire others across the Interreg Euro-MED community to take small, meaningful steps toward a greener future.
We’re also learning from the companies and organisations we collaborate with. Many are already pioneering innovative ways to combine competitiveness with environmental care, and their experiences motivate us to go further.
Because sustainability is not only the challenge faced by our project’s target groups, but also a responsibility we, as organisations, must embody in our own operations and behaviours.
Each action and each story will be part of a larger picture, one where innovation and responsibility come together to shape a sustainable Mediterranean future.
