GREENSMARTMED Joins the Third ISE Innovation Camp on Mediterranean Climate Adaptation

02/08/2025

As part of its Results Amplification Strategy, the GREENSMARTMED project will participate in the Third ISE Innovation Camp, a high-impact event hosted by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme‘s Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission. This event offers a unique opportunity to promote project results and strengthen collaboration across Mediterranean innovation ecosystems.

About the ISE Innovation Camp

Now in its third edition, the ISE Innovation Camp takes us to the next stage of transformative innovation, this time in the beautiful city of Olhão, Portugal.

These capacity-building events are designed to connect place-based innovation ecosystems with broader interregional networks, supporting the sustainable development and climate resilience of the Mediterranean. They bring together actors from the four helix of innovation: public sector, academia, industry, and civil society.

The event offers:

  • Facilitated, hands-on sessions to explore tools and frameworks of the ISE Mission.

  • Dynamic exchanges and peer learning among stakeholders.

  • A focus on biodiversity loss, climate adaptation, water management, and circular value chains.

  • A space to test practical tools and foster collaboration.

This is an especially relevant opportunity for:

  • ISE Mission project partners and associates.

  • ISEC Hub members and interested stakeholders.

  • Interreg and cooperation project partners.

  • Mediterranean governance institutions.

  • Regions participating in the EU Preparatory Action “Innovation for place-based transformation”.

  • Living labs and S3 policy makers in agriculture, environment, and innovation.

Our Previous Experience: Barcelona, May 2025

This is not GREENSMARTMED’s first time joining the ISE Innovation Camp.

On 27–28 May 2025, project partners CUEIM, Eurecat, and CERTH actively participated in the Second Innovation Camp in Barcelona, which focused on: “Smart Specialisation Strategies supporting the Mediterranean green and just transition.”

During this edition, GREENSMARTMED:

  • Engaged with Mediterranean S3 stakeholders, Interreg project representatives, and institutional actors.

  • Explored complementarities and synergies with other EU-funded projects.

  • Shared insights and learned from tools and strategies for tackling complex environmental and social challenges.

  • Contributed to discussions on aligning innovation policies with the SDGs and sustainable transition goals.

Through its continued engagement with the ISE Community, GREENSMARTMED aims to strengthen cooperation, visibility, and the transferability of innovative practices for sustainable agriculture and circular economy across Mediterranean regions.
