GREENSMARTMED partners will participate in Marseille on the 18 and 19 June in a two-day of interactive sessions and networking with like-minded people and organisations working for a more sustainable Mediterranean region, organized by the Interreg Euro-MED Thematic Community Project to launch the ISE Mission Community of Practices.

On 18 June, the GREENSMARTMED partners will attend the launch of the Interreg Euro-MED Innovative Sustainable Economy (ISE) Mission Community of Practice (CoP). The CoP launch aims to connect, share, learn, and collaborate through community-building exercises, thematic group discussions, presenting a common result amplification approach, and the co-creation of a synergistic map. The event will bring together the 14 Thematic Projects focused on blue and green circular economies.

Following the event, the project referents will join the European Week of Waste Reduction (EWWR) Awards ceremony at MUCEM and network further during a cocktail dinner.

On 19 June, the project partners will also celebrate the first edition of the MED Innovation Day, a dynamic event that will enhance the vision of a desirable sustainable Mediterranean. Participants will be guided through a discussion to imagine a shared future and define actions to work towards that goal. The session will foster collaboration by bringing together local and regional authorities, researchers, entrepreneurs, SMEs, and civil society actors to catalyze innovative sustainable practices in the Mediterranean region.

The MED Innovation Day will be wrapped up with a panel discussion on how to scale up innovative solutions to achieve zero waste in the Mediterranean. The interactive session will focus mainly on the role of innovation in the region in tackling waste challenges, bringing up key topics like local communities’ empowerment for meaningful and inclusive actions; the role of research in informing and stimulating innovation; balance of zero-waste targets with socio-economic priorities in policymaking; and the role of the private sector in putting sustainable innovation forward.

For more information about the event, check the agenda.

The activities on both days will happen in parallel with the EWWR 2023 Awards ceremony, the ACR+ 30th General Assembly, and the LIFE IP SMART WASTE Project closing seminar. For more information about this event, discover the parallel programme here.
