Within the framework of the Interreg Euro-MED GREENSMARTMED project, the 4th Transnational Project Meeting and a Capacity Building Transnational Cooperation Event will take place in Barcelona and Canet de Mar, Spain, on 26-27 November 2025.
The event is organized by the Spanish partners EURECAT and TEXFOR, with the support of the other consortium partners (UNIBG, EUT, CERTH, POL, SZ REDA, RDF, CUEIM, and others). It will bring together project partners and external stakeholders to share knowledge, assess progress, and explore innovative solutions at the intersection of the forestry and textile sectors in the Mediterranean region.
Day 1 – 26 November | Casa de la Seda, Barcelona
The first day is dedicated to the internal project meeting, allowing partners to review progress and plan upcoming activities:
- WP2 – Testing and Assessment: presentations from all regions on testing activities and technical progress.
- WP3 – Mainstreaming of Project Results: updates on communication, stakeholder engagement, and policy support.
- Catalonia Ecodesign Projects: an immersive VR experience session showcasing local sustainable innovation.
Networking activities will support exchanges among project partners and facilitate stronger collaboration within the consortium.
Day 2 – 27 November | EURECAT, Canet de Mar
The second day will focus on capacity building and transnational cooperation, under the theme: “Fostering Green Innovation through Circular Opportunities: The Union between the Forestry and Textile Sectors”
This day will highlight the strategies and opportunities identified by the project to advance green innovation and circular economy practices in the forestry and textile sectors. Key contributions include:
- RIS3CAT Methodology: presented by the Regional Government of Catalonia (Gencat), providing insight into regional innovation strategies.
- Forestry Sector in Catalonia: overview of challenges and opportunities by the Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC).
- Textile Sector & TEXWOODS Project: initiatives on regenerated cellulose and biobased fibres presented by TEXFOR and EUT.
- Panel Discussion: a transnational exchange on sustainability and innovation, featuring representatives from CTFC, TEXFOR, EUT, Gencat, DBA-UdL, POLISILK, COLLELL, ENCE, and GIRÓ (find here more information about participating organizations).
- Visit to EURECAT premises: hands-on insight into textile innovation and circular economy practices.
The second day represents a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking, allowing partners and stakeholders to explore practical solutions, share regional experiences, and strengthen the Green Innovation ecosystem across the Mediterranean.
By combining innovative practices, regional perspectives, and active stakeholder participation, the event will foster collaborative pathways toward a sustainable, circular future in both sectors.
This upcoming event will be a pivotal moment for GREENSMARTMED, bringing together partners, stakeholders, and industry experts to advance green innovation, share regional perspectives, and strengthen collaboration across the Mediterranean forestry and textile sectors.
