As part of the GREENSMARTMED project, the partner POLYMERIS took a significant step towards connecting local actors with broader European innovation ecosystems. On June 24th, the regional Material Life Cycle Club, hosted at Matéri’Act, served as the stage for the official presentation of the project’s European and international opportunities’ toolbox provided according to the project methodology.
As France’s leading competitiveness cluster in plastics, rubber, and composites, the partner POLYMERIS plays a central role in the project by leading the evaluation of testing activities, organizing regional workshops to involve SMEs from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, applying and assessing the GREENSMARTMED methodology with local enterprises to identify barriers to green innovation and helping define evaluation criteria, consolidate regional testing results, and support methodology transfer and policymaker engagement.
In the framework of Regional Core Groups activities, as a crucial step in the GREENSMARTMED methodology, this session, led by Adèle Maillard, Project Manager for interclustering activities at Polymeris, gathered professionals from the four helix model—industry, academia, public sector, and civil society—who are active or interested in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and sustainable materials.
A Toolbox to Bridge Local Needs with European Potential
During the event, Maillard introduced the GREENSMARTMED toolbox, a dynamic resource developed within the project to guide stakeholders towards targeted European programmes, international partnerships, and funding opportunities.
The goal? To better understand the participants’ current challenges and areas of interest in order to match them with relevant EU and international frameworks. To facilitate this process, an online short-term form was launched, allowing attendees to provide feedback and express specific interests directly.
Fostering a Regional Innovation Community
This first session marks a strategic starting point for an ongoing dialogue. A follow-up meeting is already scheduled for September 16th, during the joint Material Life Cycle and Composites Clubs, where new targeted opportunities will be presented to further support the regional ecosystem’s involvement in EU cooperation.
The event confirmed the value of the GREENSMARTMED toolbox in bridging regional expertise with international networks, reinforcing the role of regional innovation communities in the green and smart transition of the Mediterranean economy.
More sessions of this kind will be organized soon to strengthen cross-border cooperation and to ensure that local actors are fully engaged in Europe’s green and digital transformation.
